When a motorist speeds or beats traffic light rules, the AES camera will snap images of the offender's vehicle. For speeding offences, the cameras will take front view images of the vehicles whereas for the traffic light offences, the camera will take rear view images of the vehicles. The image is immediately transmitted to the control centre to be processed.
The AES cameras are/will be installed at roads and traffic light intersections at (speeding and traffic light-related) accident-prone areas as determined by the authorities.
At the control centres, Road Transport Department officers check and verify the offences before issuing the summonses. All summonses are sent via registered mail to ensure delivery.
Enforcement of speed and traffic light rules is a 24-hour, seven-days a week effort. The AES cameras also work effectively and take images in all weather conditions.
